Garage Punk Unknowns is not as famous as Back from the Grave, but the still rock that certain Crypt-charm. The first volume was released in 1985, with the next 6 volumes released in 1985 and 1986. The last of the series - volume 8 - was released in 1995. In 2015 to 2016 the equally great (actually I think they're better) series Last of the Garage Punk Unknowns was released by Crypt Records. This is what Patrick the Llama says about Vol. 1: "Cool low-budget series of leftovers and oddities from Tim W:s collection and actually superior to many glossier comps. Originally a limited ed but after positive reactions a second press with liner notes and band pix was issued. The first volume is pretty good with lots of inept frat/punk/R'n'B winners. Garage Punk Unknowns Vol. 2 was released in 1986 and is more of the same as that on Volume 1. There's some added folk punk which only adds to the listening pleasure. It even has the same cover as the first volume except for a sticker saying "2" on it so you can tell them apart. With Dylan, all dressed in black, were three unknown 20-somethings and they were killing it. Guitarist J.J. Holiday, drummer Charlie Quintana, and bassist Tony Marsico — the latter two of whom were members of the L.A. punk band the Plugz — backed Dylan on three songs that night, a fierce “Jokerman” and a perfectly raucous “License to Kill,” both from Dylan’s then-new semi-return-to-form album Infidels, and a swaggering cover of Sonny Boy Williamson’s “Don’t Start Me Talking.” For 12 minutes or so, the musicians proved that Bob Dylan could be jolted out of the perfunctory performances he’d been accustomed to giving then, and suggested a future beyond the living relic circuit.

Great Texas garage from the Jox label. Released in 1965 with Why should I love you on the flip. This is one of my all time favs! Audio transfered from original vinyl 45.
This song is an old favourite of mine because I heard it the first time back in 1999 while rummaging through my mom's collection of compilations. I re-discovered this compilation of songs again very recently for the first time in more than 10 years and I remembered loving this track back when I was a kid and yes, as an adult I STILL do! For one thing, I love the sound of the harmonica on this track and the guitar riffs are very cool! The Little Boy Blues were a Garage Punk band from Chicago and they apparently began as a Blues band. Audio transferred from original CD compilation.

Aight! I thought it was time to share another old gem from my back catalog of The Glendoras tunes! I will hold on to most of the original stuff yet, but share a cover we did of The Standells' classic garage rocker, Try it! We actually did two recordings of this song and it was part of our live set for a couple of years. This is the 2nd version we recorded, with Patrik Leiderth moving to Farfisa organ and Rickard Westman joining on bass. The first version is from 1998 when we still were a quartet with no organ player, recorded at the same time as our version of Gonn's Doin' me in (which can be found on my youtube channel). I think we got quite a nice groove on this take and Magnus sings the tune very well with maximum attitude! It was recorded at my mom's house in 1999 by Göran Thungström.
