The Viking game happened in a dome where DJ has the majority of his good games. The Colts game ws the exception not the rule. Also the Vikings had the 31st ranked defense. Yes, DJ can't help that and you play who you play.
I gave you holding onto the ball too long. That is a processing or lack thereof issue. You can always get rid of the ball except when the defense just blows by the O-Line. Even in those cases it helps his holding on to the ball time since it would shorten it. DJ still doesn't feel the blind side pressure on a consistent basis. Again I said his stats were comprable to Tirod's in the same situation when Buffalo made the playoffs. The "promised land" is a Super Bowl Championship. I wouldn't be too sure that DJ would be a lot better if he were on Philly. DJ still missed or overthrew open receivers down field, and electing to check down. Yes, he has had passes dropped, but so do all QBs. Look how much better Ingrahm had looked not being with DJ, but with Lawrence. Are you telling me Jacksonville and their O-Line are that much better than the Giants? It is when things don't go according to plan is where the elite and good QBs earn their pay. DJ has not shown that he can shine on a consistent basis.
If you are going to lame the O-Line and dropped passes for DJ's ad performance; you need to give them credit when DJ has a "good" game. Also Philly's defense deserves as much credit for Philly's success as the offense. There were a few games where there were lapses, but all teams have lapses; it is a matter of geting past them. Again, if you put a "spy" on DJ it severely restricts his running ability as Philly showed, and Chicago and Texas did in the second half of their games. I just don't think Joe thinks DJ deserves $30 plus; especially with the amount of money he has to play with this season. He is still cleaning up the mess he was left with. Next off season he will have a lot more flexibility unless he decides to eat into that cap space. Also don't forget we have less than 40 players under contract for next year. Last time I checked we need 53. Even if you low ball DJ this year; any bonus they give him to bring up his dollar figure goes against the cap. That is why you need to win it all in the first 5 years, in the case of 1st round picks, because after that the QB salary has a detremental affect on the cap. I don't think it is an accident that 3 of the 4 teams last weekend were on rookie contracts or low cost in the case of Jimmy G Even in the divisional only Pat and Dak were not on rookie contracts. And there is no way DJ is in their league.
In the end it comes down economics, and how are you going to build the team. To me Joe is going to do it through the draft, and when they are a piece or two away he will open the checkbook and go for it. We are not at that point right now. Joe and Brian have built up capital with the fan base with this unexpected good season. I am willing to give Joe and Brian the time to build the Giants up to be a sustainably good team. Franchise QBs don't come around all the time, and if Joe sees one; I expect him to move up and get him. They definately have their work cut out for them; especially if 'Wink decided to take the Colts job if offered. I believe he had his second interview this weekend..
I don't wana hear anything else about Lamar during down 130mil guaranteed. The market is the market. Deshaun Watson got 300 MILLION FULLY GUARANTEED. Even if Lamar doesn't get that, 130 just isn't enough. People want him to get low balled and i'm sick of it. MVP. Most winning QB in the league besides Mahomes. PAY THE MAN.
If Kirk Cousins can get MULTIPLE fully guaranteed contracts, Lamar DAMN SURE deserves and has earned ATLEAST 250. Kyler, Deshaun, Derek Carr, a bunch of guys who haven't accomplished anything getting bags thrown at them.
I often wonder why people like Chris Simms ( 5 yrs, 12 TD's, 18 int's 3300 yards) and Dan Orlovsky ( 12 years ! 3 and 23 record 15 Td's/ 13 int's 3100 yards) have jobs analyzing people doing a job in which they both failed miserably. Can poor Mike Glennon and JaMarcus Russell be inches away from a job at ESPN or do they already have enough crappy QB's on staff ?
Personally if it’s not a reasonable price I’d let em walk. He’s on the upswing just not convinced you can win a SB with him.
Haha this dude ain’t winning anything. Good luck giants
I rarely agree with Simms, but I think he's right on this one.
Florio always on his phone like the inconsiderate jerk he is. But God forbid anyone else do that to him!! We’ve seen him get flustered when that happens. Total POS
time to move on
Dimes will never win a Superbowl and that's what the Simms family wants hell they still hate Eli Manning for becoming the greatest QB in Giants history and they still routinely take cheap shots at him
Both players absolutely will be Giants..why would you tare down what your trying to build? Strengthen the online..GET A REAL GODAMN DOWN FIELD WR!! Get a real ballhawking linebacker on D..this team should be 11-13 wins next year..no reason why they shouldn't be at those numbers
Please please PLEASE do 90/6 for SB and a Dak like overpay for DJ
The giants are not ready to make a run at the superbowl, so paying DJ 35-40m and Saquon 16m
would exhaust their cap space so that they cannot afford to sign other players in order to develop the overall team strength that they need. Saquon has only been productive in 2 of his years, is injury prone and gets bogged down in 1 and 2 yard gains. His ypc looks better than it is because of a couple of longer runs per game, but there are too many no gainers followed by 3rd and longs. If Saquon wants to stay here and build a superbowl team at 12m, or DJ at 25-30m likewise, then it can work out. Otherwise we should franchise tag Saquon, and bide our time looking for a better qb. It's not that hard to find quality running backs in the draft and it's better to draft a more pro-ready qb after you have built a strong roster everywhere else. DJ has only had one good season. He's not yet
a proven first tier qb.
Jones ain't worth 40 million
He had one good year , hes lucky anybody wants him and if hes smart he would realize this coaching staff and barkley lasting all year is reason for his success and should take whatever they over period !!
Let both him and Saquon walk. Continue to put resources into building the team.
Even better, Tag jones and trade him for a second.
Daniel Jones is an elite quarterback.
One thing a lot of people are not taking into account is that Joe will not sacrifice future cap space just to keep a player. Sorry, vut DJ is average at est, and if you realy look at his performance more times than not elow average. Brian and the coaching staff took a sure bust of a draft pict and made him acerage. No way will the Giants tag DJ; not enough cap space to fill other holes. I can see them tagging Saquon, and not DJ. If the contract is right the Giants will sign him; if it is north of $30 I think they will let DJ walk. Joe and Brian have capitalwith the fans due the better than expected season. Haven't people learned from the disaster that is the Lenoard Williams contrct? He got his money, I don't blame him, based off of one year of performance, and then reverted to his norm. DJ only looked eeter due to riian, and a healthy Saquon. DJ's best performances mostly came while playing in a dome and near perfect playing conditions. The Colts game is the exception not the rule. The two comebacks this year DJ threw one pass in the 4th quarter in one game, and zero passes in the other. He misses way too many open receivers downfield, and electing to check down. Philly and to a lesser extent Chicago and Houston showed how to beat DJ by implementing a spy on DJ. It took away his running game. No, I m not ginving Jimmy Olsen Superman money. I will let other teams do that, and I doubt there are teams beating down DJ's door to sign him.

How is Chris Simms so self assured and cocky when he’s just Phil Simms Kid? Simms was so humble. Jones was very good in about 10 games. If he thinks he’s getting top 5 money and years he’ll test that market. And it’s a harder choice than ppl are making it out to be
