A single 1 ounce serving of Almonds contains more than 15 vitamins and minerals such as Magnesium and Riboflavin. Almonds are low in carbs at around 5 grams of carbohydrates 3 of which are fiber giving them a net carb of only 2 grams! And with 6 grams of protein, they are sure to satisfy you. 03:00 Veggies and Hummus. 2 tablespoons only has about 3 grams of carbs with 1 gram of fiber leaving a balance of only 2 net carbs! 03:49 Cottage Cheese. 1 half-cup of cottage cheese has about 13 grams of protein and only 4 grams of carbohydrates! Just go easy on the topping and this can be the perfect snack. 04:36 Edamame. A 1 cup serving of Edamame contains about 17 grams of protein, 8 grams of fiber with about 15 grams of carbohydrates. That means it only has about 7 grams of net carbs per serving. 05:09 Greek Yogurt. Now we're going to go kind of the traditional keto route here, but what I'm going to do is I'm going to grab maybe seven, eight snacks that I think are just ideal when it comes down to keto at Walmart. I know it's a little bit windy so hopefully you can hear me okay. The interesting thing is Walmart's done a really good job with keto friendly and just low carb options, surprisingly. So a lot of the things here are trap foods though. So we need to break down the ingredients and help you pick out different snack foods in different sections. So let's head on in. We have been kicked out of Walmart before, so hopefully it doesn't happen this time. We're going to try to keep it discreet and just very positive and helpful. We'll you see inside. Okay. Some of the things you want to look at when you're looking at almonds in particular at Walmart. Okay, look at this. We've got, actually I'll show you over here. We've got almonds. Then we've got vegetable oil, almond, canola, and/or safflower oil. This is what scares me. First of all canola oil is not expeller pressed. So because it's not expeller pressed, it means that you're getting all the GMOs, but you're also getting the really low quality omega 6s that we don't want there. So what's also interesting is whenever they say canola and/or safflower oil, it really upsets me because what does that tell you? It tells you that they don't even really know. They don't have a clear line of delineation of what's in there. The bang for the buck. Great value. Straight up, just raw almonds here. But even if you go for the roasted ones. Let's see, so almonds, vegetable oil, almond, canola and/or safflower. So normally I would say go for the roasted because it breaks down the phytic acids so that you actually get more absorption of the minerals. What phytic acid is, is phytic acid is something that is in these almonds that makes it so that it chelates excess minerals within your gut. So chelating of minerals in your gut means that all the iron, the magnesium, the good minerals you're getting from the almonds end up getting excreted out of the body because they're chelated because of something called phytic acid. If you've ever looked at like animal droppings, you see that the lot of times there's nuts and seeds in the animal droppings. That's simply because the phytic acid has it so it doesn't break down. Pistachios here. The thing I do like about pistachios is there's a barrier to entry. Okay. These are trap foods. Nuts are trap foods. You end up consuming a ton of calories, and you just got to be careful. So interesting with pistachios, at least you have a shell that's going to give you a little bit of a barrier to entry. You're not going to consume as much. They're going to slow you down a little bit unless you go with the no shell version, which you can end up eating a ton of. But in that case, look at the carbohydrate content of macadamia nuts. Four grams. Okay. Versus eight, double the carbohydrate content, okay? We're looking at a lot more carbohydrates in the pistachios. So we're going to go with these. These make the cut. And they're simple, easy snack size. Okay, so all the protein powders here. Wow. They've stepped up their protein powder game. I'm not going to lie. Certified grass fed whey. They've gotten Garden of Life certified grass fed whey. Okay, see that's a joke. I don't like that. All right. So when it comes down to just quick snack haul, we're not looking at much. But I have pretty high standards, so we kept this really clean and quite honestly not the cheapest. But at least now you know some of the things to avoid, some of the common pitfalls that people will make where they're just running in for a quick snack haul. Now this is something, again, you're on the road, you see a Walmart. Yeah. This isn't like kind of stuff you're going to load up your house with. It's the kind of thing that I would do if I was like, I'm craving some snacks. I don't want to break keto.

There are so many different kinds of keto snacks available now, like protein bars, keto bombs, and much more. But, these keto snacks can actually decrease your results significantly. Youโ€™re going to plateau.ย  The goal of keto is to decrease and normalize insulin. Every time you eat anything of significant calories, you will spike insulin. So, the more frequent the meals, the more insulin youโ€™re going to have, and the less progress youโ€™re going to make with weight loss and your overall health.ย  Low-calorie foods like vegetables wonโ€™t spike insulin too much, especially if itโ€™s filled with fiber, like leafy greens. So, this could be an exception.ย  Letโ€™s say youโ€™re doing intermittent fasting, and your first meal is at 12 pm, and your next meal is at 7 pm. But, you have a snack in between because this time is technically your eating window. I donโ€™t recommend doing this. I donโ€™t recommend eating anything during the day except for during your first meal and second meal. So, after 7 pm, you would fast again until 12 pm the next day. To really see some significant changes, you may want to work up to an 18 hour fast. However, some people may need to go up to 20 hours or even 23 hours of fasting.ย  A lot of keto snacks and keto bombs are okay to have, but you should only eat them with your meal.ย  Talk to a Product Advisor to find the best product for you! Itโ€™s also a huge change for your bodyโ€™s metabolism. And while keto is proven to help you shed the pounds, the diet can come with some side effects, like the notorious keto flu.The high-fat, low-carb ketogenic diet, or keto for short, has become a popular way to lose weight. And while keto is proven to help you shed the pounds, itโ€™s a huge change for your bodyโ€™s metabolism and can come with some serious side effects. Following is a transcript of the video: Step aside Atkins. Thereโ€™s a new fad diet in town. The ketogenic diet, or keto for short. Celebrities like Halle Berry, Kourtney Kardashian, and Vanessa Hudgens all swear by it. And if losing weight is your goal, keto works! Itโ€™s proven to help you shed pounds fast. But thereโ€™s more to this diet than meets the eye.Keto basically replaces carbs with fat. A typical keto diet looks like this: 70% fat, 25% protein, 5% carbohydrates. Itโ€™s a drastic change from the diet that the USDA recommends for Americans: Less than 30% fat, 20-35% protein, at least 50% carbs, and itโ€™s a significant change for your bodyโ€™s metabolism too. Usually, when you eat carbs, like a starchy potato, enzymes in your mouth, stomach, and small intestine break them into a form of sugar energy, called glucose, which your brain and body use for fuel. So, when you skip out on carbs, the first couple of days you might experience some strong sugar cravings. Because your body is switching gears, from burning carbs to the only energy it has left: fat. Once youโ€™re burning fat regularly, youโ€™ll start to see the pounds melt away. Depending on your weight, you might lose up to 3.5 pounds within the first week. As you burn more fat, levels of insulin โ€” the fat-storing hormone โ€” will drop significantly. This triggers your kidneys to release large amounts of sodium into the blood. Which can actually lead to a common side effect known as the โ€œketo flu.โ€ Many keto dieters report symptoms like: Nausea, Headaches, Dizziness, Muscle cramps, and low energy levels. But most of these symptoms will only occur within the first couple weeks of starting the diet. After the first month, the scales will look better. But some of that lost weight isnโ€™t actually fat. Itโ€™s water. Because some of the carbs youโ€™ve metabolized include glycogen, which retains water and therefore helps keep you hydrated. As a result, youโ€™ll likely pee more, which will lower your sodium levels even more, leading to: Dehydration, Constipation or diarrhea, and bad breath. Once youโ€™re a couple months in you might hit the notorious keto plateau. Itโ€™s a common term in the keto community and refers to when people find it harder to continue losing weight. One study, for example, found that overweight people lost an average of 15 pounds in the first month. Another 11 pounds over the next two months. But after that, they saw no change in body weight โ€” despite sticking to the keto diet. At this point, many people quit keto. Thatโ€™s why researchers often find it hard to study the long-term effects of the diet. But, as it turns out, there is one group that typically sticks to keto. Itโ€™s unclear why, but keto has been proven to reduce the symptoms of epilepsy.
