On this trip I tested my winter camping skills once again. I packed out minimal gear, built a natural shelter, and slept next to a long fire with only a foam sleep pad and one wool blanket. It was a lot of fun and I had a great time. I stayed plenty warm despite the temperature getting down to -26°C (-15°F). I have figured out a way to make a very effective long fire and I will make a video on this method in the near future. Cooking in these extreme cold temperatures can be tricky. I try to bring out food that won't freeze which is exactly what I did on this trip. I still had a delicious supper that filled my belly and was simple to make. Thank you to everyone who watches. If you feel like supporting the channel be sure to hit the thumbs up button. EXTRA INFO: Are there wild animals in this area? Yes. There's a variety of big game (moose, deer, grizzly bears, black bears, cougars, wolves) in this area. They tend to avoid humans for the most part though and don't pose much of a threat. I do carry a form of protection just in case. What clothes am I wearing? Upper body: cotton base layer, wool insulating layer, waxed cotton jacket (outer layer). Lower body: cotton base layer, polyester insulating layer (I would like to have wool pants for insulation, but they are very expensive to buy.. I will likely make my own in the future), waxed cotton pants (outer layer). How can I sleep in these cold temperatures? My fire is the reason I stay warm. I build it to put off a lot of heat and I stoke it throughout the night (every 2-3 hours) so that I'm always getting heat. My wool blanket absorbs the heat from the fire and it feels like I'm sleeping under a heated blanket. It is very comfortable to sleep this way, as long as you don't mind waking up every few hours to put wood on the fire. Gear that I use: Backpack - Kelty Redwing 44 - It's an ok pack. Comfortable enough to carry but it has a lot of flaws in it's design. I use it because it's all I have. One day I will replace it I'm sure. Hatchet - This was an $8 antique store find. I put a new handle on it and it has been my go to for a couple years now. No makers mark on it so I'm not sure what brand it is but it holds an edge very well. Knife - Mora Carbon Steel - Mine has a custom wood handle I put on it. It's a great blade and works excellent for carving/crafting. It's inexpensive and is great quality. One of my best knives. Saw - Bahco 21" Peg Tooth Blade - The wood frame I made myself. the blade is decent quality. Works quite well. Boots - Sorel Pac Boots (I think) - I don't know if the specific model I have is still available. But they're Sorel brand. Not the best boots. I have to wear thick wool socks to keep my feet warm and sometimes they still get cold. Once again though they're all I have so it's what I use. Wool Blanket - Queen size 100% wool blanket - I received it as a gift and I believe it was bought second hand. No label or anything on it. Sleep Mat - Cheapo foam sleep pad found in any camping store - It's just the typical foam sleep pad that most camping stores carry. Inexpensive but the warmest sleep pad I've used. Bulkier than an inflatable one but a fraction of the cost and warmer. If you have any other questions or comments please let me know in the comments section down below.

I test my survival skills in the Canadian forest to survive with just the things I carry in my small backpack. I'll survive with just a knife, saw, and my 22 long rifle. My Spices (Shop and Support): 🤍 I will make a primitive friction fire with a cedar spindle and a cedar base or hearth board. I'll shoot a grouse, pluck and cook it over an open fire and build a shelter with materials I find in the woods. I'll build a simple lean-to shelter with sticks, and make an epic fire to cook wild edibles I find in the forest. I'm fortunate to find some fall wild foods including black walnuts, and apples, though they are a little far gone to be completely seasonal. So I cook them and dry them over the fire to make them edible. Thankfully I find a stream to purify water, but I also show you you can drink water from snow. Primitive challenge with a few simple basic tools. I will show you how to start a fire using primitive techniques and cook a wild grouse over an open fire. Survival is all about making the best of a bad situation. Staying warm and dry is the key to staying alive. After survival is taken care of, it's all about making your situation even better. Finding food, water, and making a shelter is a must to create ultimate survival comfort. I use a saw and basic tools to make a bushcrafter shelter in the Canadian forest using materials around us like tree branches and dried grass. I attempt a friction fire using primitive technology - a cedar spindle, hearth board, and some birch bark and cedar shavings for a tinder bundle. Can I get a fire lite in tough conditions? Can you eat snow? Find out! Today I built a quick survival shelter, ideal for summer, without nails, combined only with wires and knitting. I woke up at night with a loud wild noise while I was sleeping. My dogs never stopped talking. I came across the carcass of a mountain goat on a night hike. When we want to stay in the forest compulsorily or arbitrarily, you can build and stay like this with light bush woods to survive. You will not be affected by the falling dew at night, and you will not be affected by the wind either. The trees used are made with branches of trees that need to be pruned. My camping meal, which I made at the campfire, is a delicious herb that nature has presented to us. You can consume this plant, which grows in May, with peace of mind, by roasting onions or by making a soup with eggs. 🤍 Cordless pendant flashlight Lumintop CL2 I had the opportunity to test the flashlight and it's a great product for area lighting. Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went home to “normal life.” We started this travel vlog to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with this lifestyle and did everything we could to keep going. 4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time. Van life was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎 00:00 Viewer discretion is advised: the rules 00:53 searching for trash gems 02:50 Item #1 03:33 choosing a shelter location 03:53 building a fire pit 05:06 item #2 07:08 item #3 07:38 making a fire 08:43 best vpn ;) 09:54 item #4 10:58 water purification system 12:15 item #5….re-do ;) 13:05 building shelter 14:40 item #6 15:42 eating dry cake mix… 17:32 making a natural pillow 18:46 item #7 19:58 item #8 21:29 making tools out of clay 22:37 item #9 25:00 making a CAKE 26:25 item #10 - last one 27:41 the pasta dance 32:05 the clay pot WORKED 33:42 sleeping with bears… 35:00 midnight check in….NOT GOOD 35:40 2 am, Eamon is DONE 37:08 TBC: pt. 2 is on Eamon and Bec’s channel! #survivor #bushcraft #travel #travelvlog

In this video you will see the construction of a dugout in a hillside using hand tools. It's a very hard job, but also an interesting experience. For construction, I use only dead fallen trees, which I collect in the surrounding forest. Next Series: Making a bushcraft door from split logs - 🤍 Made an Absolutely AMAZING & COZY FIREPLACE - 🤍 Sleeping in a sand pit was a bad idea - in the process of drying, the sand gradually crumbled, and with it the stones. It is better never to do this, it can be life threatening. Also, the sand that I poured on the roof crumbles a little inside. I'm thinking of fixing this in the future. Digging a hole of this size was not as easy as I thought. This took longer than I expected. Finding and processing dead fallen trees also takes a significant amount of time. But the assembly of the structure itself is quite simple and does not take much effort and time. From food I took with me mainly canned food, during the day the air temperature is quite high, the rest of the products can deteriorate. But even canned food warmed up on a fire is very tasty after a whole day of work in the fresh air. Despite the warm weather, the water in the river is cool, very refreshing and invigorating. I fought mosquitoes and midges with the help of fire smoke. Inside the dugout, I set fire to a tinder fungus - it is a natural repellent. To be continued. Thanks for watching! Real life survival stories can be even harder to believe than some of the Hollywood movies that they inspire. The stories of mind over matter, of adapting, and of surviving over all else can be both inspiring and terrifying, as even the most unadventurous might find themselves in such a situation. ►NEW CHANNEL: 🤍 ►FACEBOOK: 🤍 ►SUBSCRIBE: 🤍 Previous Videos: 🤍 🤍 Written by: Bethonie Narrated by Ty Notts: 🤍 Music by Noiseplug: 🤍
